The Information & Communication Technology Institute Quality Assurance Team visited Gowharshad Private University in terms of Accreditation and Quality Assurance on August 2018. The following issues discussed with the QA Committee and Dean of Faculties at Gowharshad Private University:

1. Introduction to EQASA, Erasmus + Project, European Union
2. Presentation for the current status of Gowharshad Private University particularly, the Quality Assurance and Accreditation process.
3. To discuss the application process for institutional accreditation
4. Major challenges of Quality Assurance  Committee
5. Exchange of experinece and best practicies
  • In introductory part of the meeting all the participants introduced themselves and explained their responsibilities in order to accomplish the desired goals.
  • After the introduction Mr. Abdul Hadi Rashed explained the phases of EQASA Project. During his discussion he has mentioned the three phases of EQASA Project such as:
  • First Step: To get insight from the current status (progress, challenges, objectives and plans) of guest institutions about Quality Assurance and Accreditation.
  • Second Step: to have mutual cooperation and contribution in order to enhance knowledge and experiences for quality assurance perspectives by conducting presentations, workshops, trainings and round table.
Third Step: to be an accredited institution we need to have 4-5 years communication for the shared goals.
  • Head of Quality Assurance Committee at Gowharshad University presented the current status in which he highlighted the following issues:
  • QA & Accreditation has started five years ago in which right now we are in the second phase of Accreditation Process.
  • The Gowharshad Institution conducted a self-evaluation after that Ministry of Higher Education also evaluated two years ago.
  • Head of QC also elaborated the strengths and weakness of Gowaharshad University of further progress and QC Enhancing.
  • In the other part of the meeting Mr. Hamid Reiaz has mentioned the key roles of curriculum for Quality Assurance, summarized as follows:
  • Curriculum Development and revision process should be based on OBE (Outcome Based Education) Modal.
  • It is important to have summative and formative assessment based on the defined schedule and purposes.
  • Industry and job market play crucial roles for developing curriculum and they are important stakeholders.
  • At the end of the meeting we had an open discussion based on the anticipated questions and solutions for the current challenges of Gowharshad University. Such asthe most commonly used method of delivery
  • Hoe GIHE validate the quality of its training materials
  • How GIHE improves the level of instructors’ skills
  • Hoe does GIHE evaluate the delivered training activities
Mr. Ahmad Najim Noorzad mentioned that the ICTI QA Team members are committed to have monthly meeting and presentation and invite them for our shared trainings inside and outside of Afghanistan.
